![]() On a personal level, I like these two even better than the first two - especially Nightwing in his original, so-called Disco outfit and Perez-styled haircut. My box came with the latter two - but now I’ve gotten my hands on Dick Grayson and Princess Koriand’r: The highlight was the 3.75-inch-scale action figures that come in the box: You get two of these four at random - Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg or Raven. While she's a relatively obscure figure, it's interesting to see Mar'i teased in this way - setting up the potential for the Titans world to take some cues from the future of Kingdom Come.REVIEW: More on the company’s surprise New Teen Titans release…Ī couple weeks ago, I happily showed off Funko’s latest DC Comics subscription mystery box, with its Teen Titans theme - which was really a sneak tribute to Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s The New Teen Titans. A tease of that timeline's ultimate future - where the Superman legacy helped push humanity into the distant future in Justice Society #22 by Geoff Johns, Dale Eaglesham and Alex Ross - implied Mar'i and Ibn would eventually even wed and have children of their own, helping the Wayne family live on in new generations. She helped fight back against the villain and was crucial in his defeat - and the discovery of Hypertime. Thanks to Rip Hunter, a small team was able to form a new iteration of the Titans - consisting of Nightstar, Ibn, Kid Flash (the daughter of Wally West) and Offspring (the son of Plastic Man). Due to the efforts of Magog in The Kingdom, this future was at risk of being erased from existence, with Mar'i and Ibn finding each other in those uncertain times. The pair reappeared in The Kingdom, having begun a formal romance despite the attempts by her father to temper their relationship before it really began. She eventually forged a surprisingly deep connection with Ibn Al Xu'ffasch - this reality's son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, aka the equivalent of Damian Wayne. She became a hero and a leader of this reality, forging a close bond with Avia, the daughter of Mister Miracle and Big Barda. Taking him and flying him to a hospital for urgent care, Nightstar unwittingly saved both of them from the atomic bombs that end up exploding and killing numerous heroes across the battlefield.Īfter the battle, Nightstar witnessed the reconciliation of her father and his mentor and remained an active hero for the changing world. In the ultimate conflict of the storyline, Mar'i ends up putting her differences with her father aside when she sees him seriously injured on the battlefield. Meanwhile, Nightstar instead chooses to side with Batman and his forces, who aim to serve as a counter to Superman's ambitions. When Superman returned from his self-imposed exile at the Fortress of Solitude, his reformed Justice League recruited Grayson in his new role as Red Robin to serve as warden for their new super-human prison. While her mother eventually separated from her father and passed away years earlier from an illness, her father remained a heroic figure in the world. Mar'i Grayson is the daughter of her world's Nightwing and Starfire, and possessed the powers and the temperament of her mother. One of the most prominent of the heroes introduced in this reality was Nightstar. Now regarded as Earth-22, this was a world where the old guard got older and new generations rose up to take their place in the world as heroes and villains in their own right. The world of Kingdom Come - created by Mark Waid and Alex Ross teased a potential future for the figureheads of the DC Universe.
